President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the phase II ease of lockdown imposed on the nation. The extension is for another period of 4 weeks with effect from Tuesday, 30th June to July 27th.
The information was given today by the Chairman, Presidential Task Force on covid19, Boss Mustapha.
According to Mustapha, “I am pleased to inform you that Mr President has carefully considered the 5th Interim Report of the PTF and has accordingly, approved that with the exception of some modifications, the phase II of the eased lockdown be extended by another 4 weeks with effect from Tuesday, June 30, 2020 through the midnight of Monday, 27 July, 2020.
Included in the ease of lockdown is the lift of the ban on interstate travels as well as liberty for schools to reopen. Interstate travels will resume from the 1st of July. The task force cautioned however, that the 10:00pm to 4:00am curfew will persist.
National coordinator of the #PTFCOVID19 Dr Sani Aliyu gave the conditions for interstate travels. According to him, “Only 50% of the passengers are allowed with compulsory use of face masks.”
Boss Mustapha adds that the eased lockdown also captures the yearning of students in the graduating classes in particular.
According to him “Safe re-opening of schools is permitted to allow students in graduating classes resume in-person in preparation for examinations.”
Captured in the ease of lockdown is also the safe resumption of domestic aviation services which will take place as soon as all safety precautions have been established.
