The governorship election results in Edo State have been made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates securing 2 local government areas each.
The candidate of APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo, secured victory in the local governments of Esan West and Owan East.
The candidate of the PDP, Asue Ighodalo, secured victory in the Igueben and Ovia local governments of the North East.
At the time of this report, the candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, has not secured victory in any of the local government areas declared so far by INEC.
In Esan West LGA, the number of total votes cast was 24,691. The number of rejected votes was 693.
The APC secured 12,952 votes, the PDP secured 11,004 votes, and the LP secured 342 votes.
In Igueben LGA, with a total of 15,267 votes cast, the APC secured 5,907 votes, the PDP secured 8,470 votes, and the LP secured 494 votes.
In Owan West LGA, the APC secured 12,277 votes, the PDP secured 11,284 votes, and the LP secured 201 votes.
In Ovia North East LGA, the APC secured 13,225 votes, the PDP secured 15,311 votes, and the LP secured 1,675 votes.
Our analyses showed that the APC candidate, Okpebholo, won Esan West and Owan East, while the PDP candidate, Ighodalo, won Igueben and Ovia North East LGAs.
So far, the LP candidate, Akpata, has come a distant third position in the four LGAs.
