Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) over allegations of offences bordering on financial crimes.
The anti-graft agency arrested Oluomo on Thursday morning, 1st of September by about 9:00am at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State.
He was said to be on his way out of the country when he was apprehended after he had failed to honour the invitations of the anti-graft agency on different occasions.
According to the EFCC, they were able to pick up the Speaker following a tip-off.
information available to us says that the lawmaker is being grilled by operatives of the commission.
However, a source closed to the Speaker, who, confirmed Olumo’s presence at EFCC office to journalists, said he was not arrested but was there on invitation.
The source, who craved anonymity, said the Speaker was not arrested but was at the EFCC office on invitation, which he said, has been in public space.
“He was in EFCC on invitation and his lawyers are their with him,” The source said.
