EFCC Releases Ex House of Reps Speaker, Patricia Etteh

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh.

The commission said in in a statement released on Saturday that Etteh was released on Friday night.

Nigeria’s first ever female Speaker of the House of Representatives was arrested on the 17th of May over suspicious and shady financial involvement with Phil Jin Projects Limited.

The spokesman of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren while speaking on the release said the former speaker would report to the commission periodically to assist with further investigations.

The statement titled, ‘Patricia Etteh Released’, reads partly, “Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on suspicious and shady financial involvement with Phil Jin Projects Limited, has been released by the Commission.

“She was released on Friday, May 20, 2022, upon fulfilling bail conditions offered her by investigators working on her matter. She is to report periodically to assist further investigations.”

Patricia Olubunmi Foluke Etteh was the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives from June until October 2007.
