The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a decision on the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, 5 days after keeping him in detention.
The position was disclosed by the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa in an address to newsmen on Monday.
Bawa met with journalists in Abuja on the sidelines of the 5th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIMA).
He said that the Commission had granted Willie Obiano bail but he is yet to perfect his bail condition and so remains in the custody of the commission.
The former governor was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday as he made to leave the country.
He is said to have been on his way to Houston, Texas, the United States of America.
This came only hours after handing over to the new governor, Prof Charles Soludo in a lowkey ceremony at the Government House, Awka.
Reports add that that the governor is held in connection with the misappropriation of state funds including security votes and a Paris Club loan.
Willie Obiano also trended over the weekend with a video of him in EFCC detention, looking casual in shorts, a t-shirt and slippers.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a Nigerian law enforcement agency that investigates financial crimes such as advance fee fraud (419 fraud) and money laundering.
