The Federal Government of Nigeria (FG) has declared Tuesday, October 19th, a public holiday to mark the 2021 Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made this known in a statement signed on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuib Belgore.
Eid-ul-Mawlid is celebrated annually worldwide in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful both home and abroad for witnessing their year’s occasion.
He called on all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He noted that it is only in doing so, all faithfuls are guaranteed peace and security in the country.
Rauf Aregebsola enjoined Nigerians particularly Muslims to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other acts of criminality and show responsible leadership in Africa.
The Minister also called for a stop to all divisive tendencies across the nation, urging all Nigerian youths, in particular to embrace the virtues of hardwork and peaceful disposition to fellow humans irrespective of Faith, ideology, social class an ethnicity.
H also called on Nigerians to cooperated with the the Muhammadu Buhari led-administration in an effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens will be proud of.
