El Rufai infected 4 people with covid19 according to him.
The Governor of Kaduna State said he contracted the virus while on a visit to Abuja. He is however, not sure of precisely how it happened.
According to him, despite all the security around him, the virus beat all of them and got to him. He added that he is sure he infected not less than 4 people afterwards.
Nonetheless, he is glad to be the state’s index case as it served to warn everyone that the disease can strike anybody.
In his words, “I was the first case, fortunately, I would say, because it served everybody about the reality. covid19 is real, it’s not a joke. I was the first case. I got it in Abuja and infected four other people, all of us are ok now,” he said.
The governor was taken to the Barau Dikko Hospital isolation centre by the Ministry of Health officials and only returned about a fortnight ago.
While recuperating, Governor El Rufai held virtual meetings with his cabinet while his deputy Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe ran the affairs of state.
He came away looking frail, grey-haired and spotting an unusual beard.
The governor’s experience spurred his strict lockdown orders as security agents clamp down on violators and turn back cross-border travellers.
A few days ago, a truck load of migrants from Kano were turned back by Kaduna State police command.
Emdee David posted that the truck (below) was prevented from entering Kaduna from Kano.
“These guys left #Kano Kano for Kaduna State. #kaduna govt turned them back at the border. #ElRufai is not joking.”
Kano has been ravaged not only by coronavirus but a yet to be explained disease that caused the deaths of 70 people in one day and 680 in one week.
