The dethroned Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, Atiku Abubakar Muhammad, has died in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to Politics Nigeria, the former Emir passed away last Friday in a private hospital in Abu Dhabi following an undisclosed illness.
A family source who confirmed the former monarch’s demise said: “His remains are still in the UAE due to non-availability of flight to bring him back home for burial.”
The deceased was dethroned along with the Emir of Dansadau, Husaini Umar on April 27, 2021, for allegedly aiding banditry in their respective domains.
As at the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the state government on Muhammad’s demise.
