Onome Adene, sister to Eromosele Adene has lamented how the Police set her up to effect the arrest of her brother, Eromosele, an #EndSARS protester.
According to her, a team of policemen deceived her into getting to her house to pick up the young man on Saturday.
Onome gave the details while speaking on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Tuesday morning.
According to her:
“On Saturday (November 7), I got a call some minutes past 7:00am from a man who said he was formally a church member. He said he had gone to our church which used to be at GRA; we moved just before the lockdown to Ipaja.
Miss Adene added that the strange man said that “he went to our church at GRA and discovered that we are no more there and he had a parcel for my dad who is the Pastor of the church.
“Seeing that we are no more there, he came to Allen where we stay. He said he was at Solanke. I didn’t know where Solanke was and I told him to come to First Bank Bus Stop.
Onome said she got suspicious when she got to the meeting venue to see the man with a black nylon bag.
By the time she walked up to the man and asked what she could do for him, he responded that he was looking for Peter, her brother.
She then requested to know their reason for looking for him and what was going on. The man showed him three other men with him saying “these are my men.”
According to Onome, “He said he was looking for Peter; they bought commodities from him, they transferred money to his Zenith Bank account and he didn’t deliver the commodities.
“I told him my brother does not sell anything. this story, I am not buying it. My brother is a musician, he is a philanthropist, he is the owner of Belle Full Naija on Instagram, he takes care of the less privileged. “
While at it, three groups of policemen in three Toyota Hilux vehicles led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Hamzat arrived at the scene.
The team of policemen stuck to their narrative of a transaction with Eromosele insisting she must take them to her house.
On arrival at the house, a lawyer demanded to know if they really came to arrest her brother, they “said no, and still, they took my brother away that same day.”
Onome added that her brother was not different from any other #EndSARS protester. He had no special role and only demonstrated like every other Nigerian youth, against police brutality.
Eromosele had alerted his friends about the presence of security operatives in his house, moments before he was picked up. According to him, they had broken down the gate to his house and were searching for him.
Civil liberties organisations have rallied round to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Eromosele. According to SERAP:
