The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution set up to look into the recklessness of the SARS operatives has visited some key sites in the aftermath of the #LekkiTollGateMassacre.
The delegation was led by Retired Justice Doris Okwuobi and had among its members, 2 youth representatives – Rinu Odulala and Temitope Majekodunmi.
Also in the panel is human rights activist, Segun Awosanya popularly known in the social media circles as Segalink.
Lekki Toll Gate:
The first port of call was the Lekki Toll Gate, scene of the 20th of October shooting of unarmed protesters by armed men in military uniforms.
Yomi Omomuwansa, Managing Director of the handlers (Lekki Conservation Company) told the visitors, in response to Majekodunmi said most of their equipment were damaged by hoodlums.
The damage include the burning of the gate and the equipment by hoodlums in the aftermath of the shooting.
A Channels TV reporter and the National Judicial Council report that 5 bullet shells were found in the drainages of the Toll Gate by members of the panel during their visit.
Military Hospital, Falomo, Lagos:
The team was initially denied access into the premises of the hospital but allowed in after about 30 minutes.
Reports say that the hospital and morgue have been under renovation since October 2019 and have not been in use.
