Enugu Residents Prevent Commissioning of Uncompleted FG Project

News - Women's Perspective

A mammoth crowd of protesters has thronged the streets of Enugu to prevent the commissioning of an uncompleted Federal Government (FG) project.

The protesters have the sites of the project including Eke community in Uti Local Government Area.

A Federal Government delegation was in the town earlier today, 4th February to commission the project worth over N400 million.

The protesters, men and women bore placards and blocked access to the delegation insisting that the projects must be completed before the commissioning.

They described the development as monumental fraud which must be resisted and stopped.

The project was supposed to be funded by the ecological fund under the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government and meant to cover the Enugu-Eke-Ogui Uno-Eke Eke-Obodo Amakwo-Oma Eke Road.

The placards sighted being carried by the protesters were captioned: “Please do not commission the uncompleted Eke Road; “Fraud Unlimited;” Public Procurement Act crucified;” Corruption unlimited,” ICPC where are you ?;” EFCC where are you ?”

Neither the state nor the federal government has made any pronouncement about the development.
