The Enugu State House of Assembly, today, 2nd of September passed the anti-open grazing bill into law.
Reports say that after going through the bill on a clause by clause basis, the lawmakers passed the bill.
After the successful passage, the Assembly is set to send the document to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuany for assent.
Prior to the passage, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association had requested the Lawmakers to extend the time frame for the passage of the bill by one month to afford them the time to make an input.
In another development, a member representing Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State House of Assembly, Aminu Garba has accused president Muhammadu Buhari of betraying the trust of the people of Katsina, the President’s home state.
Garba lamented the worsening insecurity in the country and the unrelenting attacks and killings by bandits in the state.
According to him, “the people of Katsina gave him (Buhari) the highest votes in Nigeria when he was contesting but what do we have to show for it ?”
The regrets are said to be coming after the state governor, Bello Masari asked residents to defend themselves against terrorists and bandits.
He lamented that the people of his constituency are being killed and their cattle rustled because security agents have been overwhelmed by the criminals.
According to Garba, “people can’t fold their hands and watch being killed. I they abandon their villages, where will they go and when will the killings end. ?”
