A little over 24 hours after the leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Commander Ikonso was killed, The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Sunday, announced that its military wing has appointed a new commander.
A joint operation by the Nigerian Special Forces comprising the police, army and the DSS yesterday, stormed the headquarters of the ESN in Awomama, Imo State killing Ikonso and six of his colleagues.
The IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful told Channels TV Sunday Politics that a new commander has been appointed but declined to mention his name.
Powerful denied the involvement of the ESN in yesterday’s attack on Hope Uzodinma’s house saying that, “ESN are not the ones that attacked Uzodinma’s house. They cannot come for an operation and telling they are ESN.“
Speaking about the group’s operational activities, he said that, “We pursue Fulani herdsmen from the region.”
He said that the newly instituted security outfit by the South Eastern Governors ‘Ebubeagu,’ “Are ghost security outfit.”
Reacting to the killing of #Ikonso, Emma Powerful said that, “The killing of the heroic innocent Biafrans protecting our communities and towns from Fulani terrorists herdsmen masquerading as cattle herders, in cold blood is very painful.”
Speaking further, the IPOB spokesperson said that, “The Supreme Court Administrator Imo State, Hope Uzodinma and all those who had a hand in this wickedness will pay dearly for it.
“Hope Uzodinma and his cowardly Nigerian security agencies that cannot confronted Fulani terrorists but only flex muscles when they see Biafra agitators.
“For murdering Ikonso, the ESN (Eastern Security Network) unit commander in cold blood, Uzodinma has stirred the hornet’s nest. He should get ready for a sting.”
