Success, the little Warri school girl has lamented that “everything wey dem promise na fake.”
Success Adegor had protested the strokes of cane she got for not paying her school fees at that time. Determined to pursue her education, she insisted that “dem go flog, flog, flog, dem go tire.”
In addition to the strokes of cane, Success and her friends who couldn’t pay the unauthorised fees were sent home from school.
Her video, at that time went viral with governmental and non-governmental organisations, both local and international jumping in the fray to identify with her plight. Local and international scholarships were promised, while the state government promised to refurbish her school’s dilapidated classrooms.
News has it that a total of N5 million was given to her as intervention fund from various donors. unfortunately, little Success complained that of all the promises, she only got scholarship from primary 4 to 6.
In an interview in Pidgin English with, apparently the same lady that spoke with her the first time, little success insisted that “everything we dem promise, na fake. Everything way dem say, dem don give this o, dem don give dat o, all na fake Everything wey dem promise na fake.”
According to her, many people visited her parents’ home promising to take them to Abuja and America, unfortunately, none of the promises was kept. She described all the promises as “audio money.”
Little Success added that the promises were posted on social media to give the impression that all grants will be met. Even the job that was promised her father for over a year, has not been fulfilled as he still rides his commercial motorcycle.
She added that her mother was also promised a job but has not been fully engaged as she only gets irregular handouts of N10,000 irregular. The reason her mother is not paid the regular salary is because “im name neva day paper,” meaning that she has not been officially engaged.
Success advised everyone who promised and failed that “if you know say you no fit fulfil anything, no just promise, na so the Bible talk am.”
