A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the tune of N200 million to an Ex-Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof Dibu Ojerinde.
In his ruling on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered the former JAMB boss to deposit his International passport wit the court as part of the bail conditions.
Ojerinde had been in prison custody since Tuesday pending his bail application scheduled for the 8th of July.
Justice Egwuatu gave the ruling after the ex-JAMB registrar, resplendent in native attire was arranged on an 18-count charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/97/, in which he was accused among others, of complicity in the diversion of public funds estimated at over N5.2 billon.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said Ojerinde committed the alleged offences contained in the charge from 2003 till 2021 when he served as Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO).
Ojerinde pleaded not guilty when his case was read out.
Since leaving office, JAMB has been declaring profit in hundreds of millions of Naira under the care of Prof Ishaq Oloyede unlike Ojerinde’s tenure when there was hardly any profit.
