Ex Minister of Education, Emeka Nwajiuba Reveals His Children Affected by ASUU Strike

Former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, on Sunday, revealed that his children are affected by the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Nwajiuba who resigned his position last week to concentrate on his presidential ambition called on students and members of the union to understand what the issues are.

The presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) told Channels TV during an interview that two of his children are affected by the ASUU strike.

According to the him, he takes responsibility for the strike but noted that four of his children have passed through Nigerian universities.

While speaking on the lingering strike Emeka Nwajiuba said that, “I do apologise to Nigerian students because as their minister, I will take responsibility.

“But also, on behalf of the Federal Government, I would say ‘please understand what the issues are.

“All my four children have passed through Nigerian universities. I still have two who are at home now because they are all in public universities.”

Nwajiuba was the first Minster to resign his appointment with the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

He is vying for the number political office in the country and would be contesting against current Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and and many other equally qualified aspirants.
