Ex-Minister Omobola Johnson Appointed Guinness Nigeria New Chair

Guinness Nigeria Plc has appointed ex-Minister of Communication and Technology, Chair of its Board of Directors.

Effective 1st of July, 57-year-old Johnson replaces Babatunde Savage who retires on the 30th of June after 12 years in the role. Ms Johnson has been a non-executive director of the company since January 2016.

On his part, Savage has worked in Guinness Nigeria PLC for over 4 decades occupying various strategic senior management positions, rising to become an executive director and later, Chairman, Board of Directors.

Speaking about his experience with Guinness, Savage said that, “I feel so proud of my association with this wonderful company with such rich heritage that constantly reminds you that you are standing on the shoulders of giants. Guinness Nigeria is and will always be family to me.”

Omobola Johnson was Minister of Communication and Technology during the Goodluck Jonathan administration. She comes with a 30-year experience spanning the private and public sectors.

She joined Technology Venture Capital Fund (TLCom LLP as a senior partner in 2015 and was former Managing Director of Accenture Nigeria and serves on the roads of a number of blue chip companies including MTN Nigeria.

A University of Manchester Bachelor of Engineering graduate, Ms Johnson holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cranfield University, also in theĀ United Kingdom.

Speaking about her pick as Board Chair, Babatunde Savage said that, “Dr Omobola Johnson as an incoming Board Chair perfectly compliments th board of Guinness Nigeria because of her unmatched skills and experience and I am confident she will continue to provide the right leadership and valuable perspectives to enable the company sustain the execution of its unique strategy, driver profitability and and enhance value for all stakeholders.”
