Eyitayo Jegede has won the PDP governorship ticket.
He was declared winner on Thursday, 22nd July at the delegates’ election which took place at the International Culture and Events Centre, the Dome in the state Capital, Akure.
Results by candidates:
- Eyitayo Jegede: 888
- Agboola Ajayi (incumbent deputy governor): 657
- Eddy Olafeso: 175
- Bani Okunomo: 90
- Olabode Ayorinde: 95
- Boluwaji Kunlere: 33
- Olusola Ebiseeni: 29
- Godday Erewa: 14
A total of 64 votes were taken out as invalid.
Jegede was declared the winner by the Chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee and Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi having polled the highest number of votes.
The Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was present at the primaries among other notable PDP members
The Ondo State governorship election is scheduled for the 10th of October, barely 3 months away. The contest is now principally between the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rotimi Akeredolu and Eyitayo Jegede.
Akeredolu won the APC Primary election that held on the 21st of July where 3,000 delegates voted.
He got a landslide victory over 7 other aspirants with 2,458 votes.
His closest rival, Olusola Oke took second position with 262 votes while Isaac Kekemeke made a distant 3rd position with a mere 19 votes.
