The Federal Government of Nigeria has placed its agencies on alert following reports that fake covid19 vaccines have been shipped to Africa.
Monitoring agencies have also allayed fears that harmful vaccines were being administered or sold by unauthorised institutions in the country already.
Director General, Department of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Adebimpe Adebiyi gave a statement on the matter.
Her announcement follows a letter from the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on #COVID19 which states that thousands of doses of the vaccine were discovered to be on their way to Africa.
She advised that in order to prevent the importation of fake vaccines, “The Nigeria Customs Service has designated the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja as point of entry (PoE) for imported vaccines.”
