Families of victims of Abuja-Kaduna train protest as captors threaten to kill them. They called on the Federal Government to immediately rescue their loved ones.
The relatives of the victims made the call on Tuesday while reacting to the threat by the terrorists to start killing the captives if the government does not meet their demands.
The terrorists promised that the executions will commence in the next seven days if the government refuses to release their children allegedly kept in a Yola detention facility in Adamawa State.
The leaders of the terrorists spoke on phone to the spokesman of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Malam Tukur Mamu.
Speaking with reporters, the leader of the kidnapped victims’ families, Abdulfatai Jimoh, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to order the immediate release of the children of the terrorists.
Jimoh stated that the release of the children would secure the freedom of their loved ones who have been in captivity for 59 days.
He said the government should trade the minors for the lives of their relatives, adding that the bandits have shown that the captives are still alive.
He said, “It is a terrible situation. Our appeal to the government is that it should hasten the action and meet their demands and release their children. The government should release their children so that they can help our people. It is something that is possible for the government to do.
“You don’t hold children for anything. The children are minors. It is something that the government can do. They (bandits) even said they knew where their children are. Our appeal is very short, that the government should release their children so that they can release our people.”
Jimoh noted that the kidnap of their beloved ones for close to two months has been traumatic and sad.
“It has been very traumatic not seeing our loved ones for 57 days now. It is not an experience that one will wish for, even for his worst enemy. It is not a good experience at all. We pray that this experience will come to an end very soon. That’s our prayers.”
