Adeola Oseni, widow of the America-bound victim of the collapsed 21-storey Ikoyi skyscraper, Wale Bob-Oseni and his family have debunked reports that their late relative was one of the contractors in the project.
Bob-Oseni is said to have been on his way to the Murtala Muhammad International Airport to return to his base in the United States.
His friend, Femi Osibona, the owner of the mansion called him to check out the ongoing project on Gerard Road, Ikoyi.
Unfortunately, while taking a tour of the building, the entire structure collapsed on both of them, killing them and many others working inside.
Bob-Oseni’s family has released a statement where they described him as a “hardworking young and upwardly mobile Nigerian.”
According to the family, “On Thursday, November 4, 2021, our hope that our husband, brother, son, nephew, friend and the core of many networks of hardworking young and upwardly mobile Nigerians, Wale Bob Oseni, would be one of the survivors of the ill-fated crash was dashed.
“Since we identified his body, we have been struggling with the nightmarish reality of our irreparable loss, the chasm of his absence, and the multi-dimensional proportions of this transition from being to nothingness.
“It is not true that Wale Bob Oseni was a director or contractor in the Fourscore Properties construction transaction.
“The owner, Femi Osibona and Wale, were both alumni of Mayflower School, Ikenne where both of them bonded.
“It was this camaraderie that made Osibona invite him to see the dream project he was building.”
According to tribuneonlineng, so far, 15 people are said to have survived the crash, forty two pulled out dead while many are still missing.
The Lagos State government is helping families of deceased victims identify their loved ones through DNA tests before releasing them for burial.
