Minister of Aviation and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the victory of Atiku Abubakar at the just concluded presidential primary election of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
PDP held its national convention in Abuja on Saturday where the party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2023 general election emerged.
Former Vice President, Atiku won by a landslide, polling 371 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who garnered received 237 votes.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki came a distant 3rd with a total of 70 votes. However, before voting commenced, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal stepped down for Atiku.
While sending his congratulatory message to the former Governor of Adamawa State, Femi Fani-Kayode advised the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to field a northerner to defeat Atiku.
Fani-Kayode observed that Atiku is a formidable candidate and that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC must field a Northern candidate if it must retain power by 2023.

“APC MUST field a NORTHERNER if we want to win.“
In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode wrote: “Congratulations to @atiku. Not only is he a formidable candidate but he comes from a zone that has not produced a democratically-elected President for 62 years. This is justice.
“@OfficialAPCNg MUST field a NORTHERNER if we want to win. Whichever way, a hard fight lies ahead.”
