22-year-old Oluwabamise Anyanwola, the fashion designer who went missing after boarding a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has been found dead.

The sad news was announced on Monday, March 7 by the deceased’s family spokesperson.

“We are at the morgue. We have confirmed the corpse,” the relative said in an emotional-laden voice.

He added that the “The body was recovered yesterday by the policemen attached to Ebute-Ero Police Station and has been deposited at the mortuary within the axis.”

The family told reporters that Bamise’s brother identified the body from the pictures provided by the law enforcement agency.

A source added that she was thrown out of a moving bus half dead around Ebute-Ero Area of Lagos.

The fashion designers’ brother is said to be on his way to the mortuary to ascertain if any of the body parts is missing.

The family source told reporters that “Bamise’s brother was at Ebute Ero Police Station this morning to confirm and when he was shown the picture of the body, he affirmed that it was his sister’s. He’s on his way to the mortuary to identify the body.

He added: “The irony of it was that the Lagos State Government which gave the buses and the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whom our security is in his hand have kept mum since the news broke. They do not care about us and so we should not just rely on them for our security. Only God can protect”.

The 72-year-old mother of the victim is said to have pleaded with security agencies to help return her daughter alive and arrest the culprits behind her kidnap.

The Lagos State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement as at press time.

After boarding the BRT and sensing danger on Friday, Miss Ayanwola sent a video to her friend showing how dark it was in the bus and reportedly said: “there are three men and one woman in the bus. The woman is sitting at the back. That’s the number of the bus in case. Please pray for me.’’
