A 35-year-old father, Abidemi Oluwaseun has been arrested by security operatives in Ogun State for attacking a teacher accused of flogging his 15-year-old daughter.
Oluwaseun hired 2 thugs to invade the Baptist Girls College Idiaba, Abeokuta and was apprehended by security operatives after the principal put up a distress call.
The father arrived with Fayesele Olabanji, ‘m’ 25 and Alebiosu Quawiyu ‘m’ 24 and all 3 of them stormed the school with an unregistered vehicle, armed with a machete and threatening to hack down the teacher with their weapon.
Spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and said that upon receiving the distress call, the DPO Kemta Division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday, mobilised his men to the scene.
The 3 men were then apprehended right inside the school premises.
According to Oyeyemi, “The unregistered Toyota car and the cutlass were recovered from them. On interrogation, Abidemi Oluwaseun confirmed hiring the other 2 men to the school to the teacher who beat his daughter, the lesson of his life.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that, while the teacher was teaching, some of the students including the suspect’s daughter were mocking the teacher and distracting other students.
“The teacher after identifying those disturbing the class, flogged them as a corrective measure, but the suspect’s daughter went home and reported to her father consequent upon which her father mobilised two thugs and stormed the school with cutlass.”
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has requested that the suspects be properly investigated and charged to court as soon as possible.
