Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi on Christmas Day, paid a visit to elder statesman and former Chairman of the Committee for the Creation of Ekiti State, Chief Deji Fasuan.

In a show of humility and respect and in line with the dictates of the Yoruba culture and tradition, Fayemi, went on his knees as soon he met Chief Fasaun in his country home.

The homage is seen by many as a sign of respect and gratitude for the contributions of Chief Deji Fasuan.

Recounting the visit in a social media post, Kayode Fayemi wrote; “Rarely do I return to my home state for Christmas without paying him a visit because such visits consistently open up a world of important life lessons, interesting facts, stories, and wisdom”.

Moreover, Kayode Fayemi added that; “We went through his old photo albums together, which provided us with an opportunity to revisit his life and reminisce about the wonderful times and hardships he overcame. He recounted his public service experiences, such as when he served as the Chairman of the Committee coordinating the campaign for the creation of Ekiti State, an age-long dream that materialised in 1996. Exploring how he coped, what actions he took, and the lessons he learned in his life taught me valuable life skills”.

In addition, Kayode Fayemi wrote; “Our elders have lived full lives and possess a wealth of knowledge to share, which can impact and guide us through our own journeys. As you celebrate this festive season, consider setting aside time to visit your elderly loved ones and engage in meaningful conversations with them. You may be surprised by how much you can learn, and they will undoubtedly appreciate the opportunity to share their wisdom with you. Merry Christmas”
