FCMB Begins Probe into MD’s Unethical Conduct in Office

News - Women's Perspective

The Board of Directors of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has commenced investigations into allegations of unethical conduct against its current Managing Director, Adamu Nuhu.

The MD has been mired in an adultery scandal involving Mrs Moyo Thomas, a former employee of the bank and her late husband, Tunde Thomas.

A petition instigated a few days ago by friends of the deceased alleged that Tunde died of depression and a heart attack after his wife revealed the paternity of their only 2 children.

Thomas died on the 16th of December, 2020.

The online petition has gathered more than 2,000 signatures asking that the FCMB management sanctions Adamu Nuhu.

A law firm, TD Cole Esq led by Rita Ebiuwa chronicled the reckless open romance between Nuhu and Mrs Thomas.

The relationship produced 2 children who were raised by Tunde Thomas oblivious of the fact that they were fathered by his wife’s boss.

The yet to be identified petitioners also called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), sack Nuhu as well commence a thorough investigation into the allegation of adultery.

Excerpts of the petition:

“This is a case of gross misconduct based on ethical grounds and an unjustifiable economic oppression by the elite (Adam Nuhu) against the underprivileged in the society.

“The MD has been doing everything possible to sweep this case under the carpet.

“We implore the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the apex regulator, and the board of FCMB to investigate this for the integrity of the bank and Nigerian banking industry.”

According to The Nation newspaper, the FCMB Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Diran Olojo confirmed that the bank is aware of the allegations against the MD.

The statement reads that “We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director, Adamu Nuhu, a former employee, Ms Moyo Thomas and her deceased husband, Mr Tunde Thomas.

“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct, require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of these code of conduct ethics. This will be done immediately.

“We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved.”
