The Federal Government of Nigeria has budgeted a total of N104 billion to purchase generators, fuel and service them for Ministries, Departments and agencies of the federation.
The estimate is contained in the 2022 budget submitted to the National Assembly.
The breakdown of the generator budget and the ministries, agencies and departments benefitting the most are highlighted below.
The Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning under the leadership of Zainab Ahmed has set aside the sum of N82.03 billion to light up its premises and equipment.
This amounts to 80% of the entire generator budget which means the ministry has the biggest share of the proposed 2022 budget.
The Federal Inland Revenue Service is the agency with the highest budget for generators at N250 million for maintenance, N1 billion for fueling and N550 million for purchasing new ones. Total budget equals N1.8 billion.
Nigerian Army comes second with the highest budget with a total of N971.7 million set aside for fuel alone.

Next comes the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency with a budget of N946 million.
The Department of Petroleum Resources comes fourth with an estimated expenditure of N905.7 million for maintenance, N666.8 million for fuel, N120 million to purchase generators in Sokoto, Yenagoa, Umuahia ad Ilorin.
