It is double celebration for one of Nigeria’s best, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina. He is celebrating his 36th wedding anniversary as well his exhortation from trumped up corruption charges at the African Development Bank (AFDB).
Born to a peasant farmer in Ibadan, Oyo State, Adesina started his academic pursuit from a local school and graduated from the University of Ife with a 1st Class degree.
He got married to his wife, Grace in 1984 after a post graduate degree at Purdue University in Indiana, the United States of America. They have 2 sons together, Segun and Rotimi.
While at Purdue University, Grace and Akinwunmi Adesina stated the African Student Fellowship, a Christian group.
To mark his wedding anniversary, Adesina posted a lovely tribute to his wife saying he would marry her 36 years over considering the impact she made in his life.
According to him,

“Today my darling wife and I celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. Marrying my wife, Grace (Yemisi) is the best decision I made in my life. I would not be who I am today without her. I love you my sweetheart. I will marry you 36 years over. You are the best!”

Akinwunmi Adesina was, during the week exonerated of a 16-count allegation of ethical misconduct brought against him as the president of the AFDB.

Nigeria and well-wishers have expressed their joy at the news of his vindication. Notable among those is President Buhari.

Part of the statement issued on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, reads:

“President Muhammadu Buhari warmly rejoices with President of the African Development Bank (AFDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, on the clearing of all allegations agains him by an anonymous group, and further validation of his competence and integrity to lead the institution.”
