A wedding reception came to an abrupt end on Saturday, April 8 as fire broke out within the hall.
The party was underway at Yard 158, an event center in Oregun, Lagos, when chaos broke out.
Precisely at the time the master of ceremony called for a toast to the newlyweds and the event organisers lit firecrackers, the spark generated into a fire and quickly spread to the decorations draped across the hall.
The organisers announced that no one should panic but locate the nearest exit and leave in an orderly manner, a prompt that was thankfully adhered to.
Assisted by some of the guests, they made use of the venue’s fire extinguishers and those brought in by car owners to combat the fast-rising inferno.
Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
