Fire Guts Bode-Saadan Market, Shops with Millions Worth of Goods Razed

No fewer that nine shops were birth down in a Tuesday night fire that gutted the popular Bode-Saadan Market in the Moro council area of Kwara State.

The fire is reported to have started at about 1:45am and quickly razed the shops, destroying several millions of Naira worth of goods.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident.

Adekunle said he got a distress call from a certain Mr Musbaudeen and immediately dispatched men of the Fire Service to the scene.

According to him, “Quick response from the brigade in putting out the fire, the inferno averted monumental disaster that would have affected the community.

“Out of 50 shops in the market vicinity, only 9 shops were affected due to the systematic approach adopted by the fire officers who were present at the scene.

Hassan Adekunle added that’ “the brigade therefore, urges the general people of Bode Said to always play safely at all times, especially the market people of the community.”

The Bode-Saadan Market incident comes barely one week after a similar incident at the popular Gwarimpa tipper market in Abuja.

The cause of the Gwarimpa Market fire is also not yet ascertained.
