There has been a fire outbreak in parts of the popular Balogun Market located inĀ Lagos Island, Lagos State, with goods worth millions of Naira lost.

Some of the traders who arrived their shops on Thursday morning in anticipation of another cash-out day for the Yuletide season, were heartbroken to see their wares completely burnt, according to Vanguard.

The cause of the fire is not yet known as at the time of filing this report but it was obvious that it happened at night.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu said he was yet to receive a formal report on the incident.

According to him, “I am yet to see such a story, I will find out and get back to you.

A few days ago, shops in an entire plaza at the popular Computer Village market in Ikeja were also razed by fire.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu said the fire broke out from one of the shops.

In his words, “There was a fire incident at 18 Otigba Street, Computer Village, Ikeja in the hours of today. The fire engulfed a shopping complex.

As soon as the report was received, firefighters were contacted and theyhrrived immediately. Policement were drafted there to protect the firefighters and others.

“The fire has been put out successfully. No life was lost in the incident. However, valuable properties which estimates are not yet known were destroyed,” he added.
