Five Arrested for Selling and Buying Covid-19 Vaccination Cards

Coronavirus Pandemic

Not less than five persons have been arrested in Bauchi State for selling and buying Covid-19 vaccination green cards.

Reports say that the crime is inspired by vaccine apathy which is still prevalent in many parts of the world.

The arrest is also confirmed by the Bauchi State Covid-19 Task Force in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, BASPHCDA, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed who disclosed the development on Wednesday said the action of the citizens is a setback to the success of the vaccination exercise.

In an address to newsmen yesterday, Mohammed lamented that many of the state’s healthcare workers and academia were leading the vaccine apathy.

According to him, “It is setting back the success of the exercise. In collaboration with the Police, Army and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, (ICPC), we have been able to arrest some people who were buying the vaccine cards without taking the injection. They are now with the security agencies undergoing investigations.”

BASPHCDA Chairman added that many people who played dumb to the vaccination when it was flagged off by the Governor, his deputy and House of Assembly Speaker, later contracted the virus.

He noted that some people who got vaccinated and felt the mild side effects were giving others negative narratives. Some were placing metal objects on the jab spot to get people to reject it.

We carried out a mass campaign on social media and moved to the rural ares for enlightenment,” he added.

Mohammed urged citizens of the state to take the vaccination exercise seriously in the interest of the general public.
