Former First Lady of Lagos State has come under fire for firmly reprimanding another woman and calling her a thug.
The incident happened at Marriott Hotel, Lagos, during the South-West zonal public hearing of the constitution review on Wednesday, 26th May.
Guests had arrived and needed to queue up to register before being granted access into the hall. However, some people were turned back when organisers informed them that registration had closed for the day.
Shortly afterwards, some lawmakers from Oyo State arrived and were about to be allowed in but those whose entry had been refused protested vehemently.
While the commotion was going on at the front door, the Oyo lawmakers were taken to the back door but the angry members of the public blocked that entrance also insisting that they had been unfairly treated.
The former First Lady, Senator Tinubu then made for the backdoor to allow the Oyo guests in.
A female member of the public then protested loudly insisting that she had been treated unjustly and would not accept the partial treatment.
Senator Tinubu then reprimanded her insisting that, “We don’t want thugs here !”
Not happy with the former First Lady, the angry crowd insisted she apologise to the unnamed woman considering she is a Senator that was voted for by the public.
Mrs Tinubu however refused saying that, “I will not apologise for what I said. I saw it and I said it,” she said.
Public reactions have trailed the development:
Morris Monye@Morris_Monye· “Thuggery became an institution in Lagos state under your leadership. You now called someone a Thug. Was she trying to hail the person?“
Ogbeni Abulesowo@Ojekunle_Bisi· “Sen. Remi Tinubu is a liability to the ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Few things 1. Called a woman a thug. 2. Fought Saraki. 3. Fought Dino Melaye. 4. Called Smart Adeyemi “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. 5. Said Igbo, ‘We No Dey Trust Una Again’.”
Gbemi Dennis™@GbemiDennis· “I will not apologise for what I said. I saw it and I said it” Senator Remi Tinubu response to the people who wanted her to apologize after calling a woman “thug” for speaking too loud at the South West Constitution Review hearing.”
