Former pensions reform task team boss, Abdulrasheed Maina was arrested yesterday evening , 30th November in Niger Republic.

He was nabbed by operatives of the Nigeria Intelligence Service in collaboration with anti-corruption agency personnel.

Reports say that a mutual security arrangement between Nigeria and Niger facilitated the operation.

The former pensions boss is standing trial over a N2 billion money laundering charge.

The case comprises a 12-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (#EFCC).

He was arraigned in court with his son for money laundering but both individuals have continued to jump bail.

The former pensions boss’s lawyer recently applied to recuse himself from his case.

He is said to have stopped attending court sessions since the 29th of of September.

Having waited endlessly for him to show up in court, Justice Okon ordered that his surety, Senator Ali Ndume be remanded in custody until he is able to produce the accused.

The judge also empowered the federal government to to sell the Senator’s house to recover the N500 million bail-bond granted the accused.
