Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied rumours that he is dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Peoples Congress (APC).
Jonathan’s aides made the fresh denial on Wednesday after rumours emerged once again that he had decamped from PDP, the party under which he contested and won a presidential campaign.
There have been several rumours that he will dump the PDP for the APC and contest the 2023 presidential election.
By today, Wednesday afternoon the news became more compelling and sparked anxiety across many quarters.
However, when contacted for a reaction, the spokesperson for the former President, Ikechukwu Eze said there is no iota of truth in the rumours.
He added that his principal is too busy with other activities and would communicate through the appropriate channels if he decides to make a move.
According to Eze, “The report is fake news, if he defects it would be announced through the proper channels.
“This is a man that’s very busy with other things.”
