A video of a French Police racially abusing an unarmed black has been described as shocking by President Emmanuel Macron.
The black man, a music producer was seen on CCTV being physically assaulted and abused.
According to the man simply identified as Michel, he was pounced upon by the police officers outside his music studio in Paris.
He said he was taking a walk in the street without a face mask, which he acknowledged ran contrary to to covid19 safety protocols.
On sighting the police, he made for his studio which was close by. It was at that point that the officers followed him, raining fist and baton punches on him and calling racially abusing names.
He added that “I did nothing to deserve this. I am lucky, unlike many others, because I had this video to protect me.”
The incident which was also captured on mobile phone has been headline news all day in France today.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed sadness and said he is “very shocked” to hear about the incident.
Michel is reported to be seeking justice for the unfair treatment he received.
