Reactions have trailed a video of Nollywood actress turned politician, Funke Akindele and Jandor dancing during a rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.
The Jenifa’s Diary actress, during the Sallah holidays, accepted the offer to become the running mate of PDP’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor.
Adediran who is popularly known as Jandor on Tuesday, called on electorate in Lagos State to work with him and his running mate, adding that she will add more value to his candidacy.
He further stated that Akindele has a track record of service and advocacy.
Adediran stated this on Twitter on Tuesday while confirming the actress as the PDP deputy governorship candidate.
Varying reactions have, however, trailed Akindele’s emergence as Jandor’s running mate.
Some of the initial comments were narrowed to the fact that the actress’s second marriage had just crashed. Others doubted her competency considering the industry she has played in.
While different narratives about Akindele seem to be flying around, a video surfaced on the internet showing herself, PDP’s governorship candidate in the state and other party stakeholders showing off their dancing skills at a rally.
In her own reaction, socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu took to her Twitter page to question the understanding of critics.
She stated clearly that dancing at rallies is part of the campaign as the candidates would have to keep their heads low to connect with the electorates.
Aisha Yesufu tweeted: “So Funke Akindele danced at a rally and some people have issues with that? Na wa ooooh! Dancing is part of what is done at a rally. You have to connect with everyone at a rally. You talk about issues and also let your hair down.
“Except if there is something I don’t know.”
