Award-winning Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Lagos State.
The mother of twin boys was among 5 deputy governorship aspirants tipped as potential running mates of the party’s governorship candidate, Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor.
A short video clip trending online captured the moment some members of PDP were jubilating and congratulating Funke.
Sources close to the party’s Governorship Candidate in the state, Dr Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran, and the leadership of the party in the state, confirmed the development.
Daily Trust reports that the running mate would be unveiled at a ceremony that is being planned
The 5 names that were shortlisted for the post include:
- Funke Akindele
- Former governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour
- Former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo
- Another governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan known as DAKOVA
- Engr. Teslim Balogun.
The development comes after Funke’s estranged husband of 6 years announced that they had parted ways after she sent him out of her house and cut all communications with him.
