Gas Explosion at Filling Station Destroys Six Vehicles

A gas explosion was today, reported at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the explosion which destroyed 6 vehicles, occurred on Nov. 15 when a truck carrying gas cylinders caught fire at Tamal filling station along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road.

Sadiq-Aliyu revealed that officers from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and supported by military personnel, promptly responded to the incident after hearing a loud explosion.

While six vehicles were extensively damaged in the fire, no casualties were reported.

Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road.

“The joint team swiftly deployed preventive measures to protect lives and minimise property damage, successfully quenching the fire.

“Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost,” he said.

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to uncover the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be shared as the investigation unfolds, Sadiq-Aliyu added.
