Government Begins Payment of N50,000 Monthly to Nigerian Youths

The Federal Government, through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has commenced the disbursement of N50,000 monthly stipends for 10,000 youth selected under its Youth Internship Scheme.

According to Mrs. Seledi-Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, the chosen trainees, who were selected from over 3.2 million applicants, will undergo a 12-month hands-on training to develop vital skills.

Thompson-Wakama also highlighted the NDDC’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency by collecting data on the youth’s qualifications and employment needs.

She emphasized the partnership with KPMG, which has delivered a Governance Advisory Report aimed at improving corporate governance and guiding the NDDC’s transition to a transformation-focused approach.

The director expressed gratitude to the youth for their patience during the selection process.
