Government Speaks about Conducting Free DNA Tests for Nigerians

The Federal Government has reacted to news that it will be conducting free Deoxyribonucleic acid tests popularly known as DNA tests free of charge for Nigerians.

Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora denied the reports in a statement published on Wednesday.

The information was given in a tweet by @Ekwulu during the week. According to him, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire said that DNA tests will be done for free in every government hospital.

The information attracted varying reactions across members of the public, some whom doubted the ability of the government to fund such a project without foreign aid.

Others believe it would bring sanity to the growing distrust among couples.

In his reaction, the Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora said that the information is false.

He said: “This is a false claim. At no point did I or the minister (of Health) say this. The claims about free DNA tests are not true.”
