The Lagos State government has declared that it will investigate reason jerry cans filled with petrol petrol were shared as souvenir at a party.

Some viral video and photos showed waiters bringing the petrol laden jerrycans into the party venue with guest dancing.

In his reaction, the Governor of the State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu speaking through the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho regretted the development and said the incident will be investigated.

He pointed out that having jerrycans of petrol as souvenirs is a dangerous development which contradicts safety standards and is capable of causing harm to lives and property.

Many observers believe that a cigarette or flames from a caterers serving table could have caused colossal damage at the venue.

Omotoso added that the safety of the people of Lagos remains a top priority to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property. It is blatantly against all safety measures in such places,” he said.

The safety of lives and properties of Lagosians and visitors remain a top priority to the Governor @jidesanwoolu administration. We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and properties be avoided,” the commissioner added.

On is part, JJ. Omojuwa@Omojuwa Said, Petrolassouvenir at a party is a safety issue. I understand the power and essence of content but these must be moderated within your and other people’s safety. Let’s not burn ourselves down whilst trying to make people laugh. Death is too much a cost for laughter.
