Nigeria’s Health Minister says that the the Federal Government will do everything possible to prevent Doctors from leaving Nigeria.
Dr Osagie Ehanire said this while inspecting work on the new cancer centre at the National Hospital in Abuja.
The Minister said that the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is putting in place every incentive that will make it unattractive for Nigerian doctors to seek greener pastures abroad.
He confirmed that number of doctors leaving the country has become a challenge.
According to Ehanire, “We have plans to provide better funding for our hospitals in Nigeria and make such migration unattractive.”
He added that the country’s hospitals met expectations during the covid19 pandemic.
He then said that government will do all takes to ensure that doctors remain in the country. He enjoined hospital managements to maintain the facilities and seek alternative sources of funding.
The Minister of Health advised them to be ready for a possible second wave of the covid19 pandemic in the country the way she countries are currently experiencing it.
He warned, “schools are resuming, people are travelling in and out of te country, we must be prepared for any emergency.
