Reports reaching us say that the convoy of the Governor of Kano State, Abdulahi Ganduje was attacked on Tuesday night by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
Three policemen are said to have sustained injuries during the attack which occurred as the convoy was getting into Kano from Zamfara State.
The Governor and his entourage had attended a mega rally in Zamfara earlier in the day where All Progressives Congress (APC) members were in attendance.
Ganduje was in Zamfara to welcome the State governor, Bello Matawale to the APC.
Government House sources confirmed the incident but said that the governor was not in the convoy when they ran into the gunmen.
It added that Ganduje had joined the convoy of the Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru after the mass rally in Gusau.
“you know because the place was rowdy after the event which had many state governors in attendance, H E (Ganduje) joined his friend (Badaru) and they both arrived in Kano hours before the Kano convoy arrived,” the source who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
Scores of gunmen are reported to have opened fire on the government convoy, the moment they approached Kano.
