Reports have emerged that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar sent a delegate to meet with Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday in Turkey but the Governor declined seeing them.
Premium Times reports that the former vice president sent an ex-Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri to speak with the Rivers State Governor amidst the growing crisis rocking the opposition party.
Wike announced his vacation in the European country during the week. He was seen in his update about his itinerary with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and some other close associates.
Reports say that Atiku had plans to meet Wike to inform him of his decision to pick Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate, but Wike left Abuja the night before the announcement after sensing Atiku’s decision
Wike has since completely avoided the former vice president and avoided any public discussions on the matter.
Information also say that Atiku who knew that Wike was in Hilton Conrad Hotel in Istanbul on Thursday, sent Waziri to meet with him.
However, despite Wike and Waziri meeting at the lobby of the hotel, the Rivers State Governor declined giving him room to deliver Atiku’s message.
Waziri reached out to some PDP leaders in Nigeria to persuade Nyesom Wike to discuss with him, but still, he refused.
