The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, announced that he tested positive to covid19.
He gave the information himself this afternoon in a broadcast to Ondo State citizens.
According to him, he came down with malaria a few days ago and was treated. A test was thereafter run him and unfortunately, he tested positive to covid19.
In his Twitter post, he said that “Today I tested positive for #COVID19. All is well. I’m asymptomatic and have been self isolating. Work continues. Your continued prayers over my well being are most appreciated.”
In his televised state-wide broadcast he gave details of his health condition:
“I had malaria few days ago and was treated. I did get over it. As at the time we had our party NEC, one of my colleagues called on me, I spoke with one of them who felt that malaria should not be treated lightly. I should go ahead and have a test for covid19.
“The result came out today, 30th of June, 2020 and I tested positive but I am asymptomatic. I’m not feeling sick neither am I feeling hot in anyway.
“My doctors have decided that I should take the normal treatment and self isolate.
“I believe that supervised home management will be ideal for me for now.
“…as you can see me, there are many of us like this that don’t have the symptom.
“In few days time, we will conduct another test and we will know the result.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu reassured the people of Ondo state that even if he tested positive to covid19 the job of governance is still going on as he continues to work from isolation.
A forthnight ago, he had a running battle with his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, following which the latter dumped the ruling APC and joined the PDP on Sunday, the 28th of June.
