This comes in spite off the order by the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja restraining the governments of Rivers and Lagos States from their plans to collect the Value Added Tax (VAT).

In its ruling on Friday, the court had ordered both states to maintain status quo pending the determination of an appeal lodged by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)

A 3-man panel of Justices of the appellate court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani said the order was to preserve the ‘Res’ (subject matter)of the appeal before it.
