Governor Wike personally mounts roadblock today to monitor and enforce his government’s order on the #COVID19 lockdown.
In videos monitored earlier in the day, he is seen at several stops in Port Harcourt interrogating drivers who flouted his ‘stay-at-home’ order.
Anyone with no tangible reason to be out on the streets was arrested ordered to be taken to the isolation centre and his vehicle impounded. However, the governor appears to be lenient with women all of whom he let go after brief explanations.
The governor has indeed come down hard on violators of the lockdown directive. Earlier in April, some Carveton Helicopter pilots and passengers were arrested for defying his no flight order. They were all taken into police custody while the governor threatened to shut down the business.
Governor Nyesom Wike remained adamant in spite of summons from Abuja and pressures to release them.

In another development, a bus-load of ExxonMobil staff traveling into the state from another state was impounded. All the passengers were left in the bus for days following which they were all subjected to codid19 tests to ascertain their statuses.

As Governor Wike personally mounts roadblocks, he also personally visits hotels that were in full swing and ordered their immediate demolition. He also personally monitored the demolition of each of them.
Among the hotels demolished is the popular Protest Hotel in Eleme.
Rivers States residents have been reacting to the measures taken by the governor.
