The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has welcomed the Court of Appeal judgement, which affirmed Natasha Akpoti as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election.
The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja nullified the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Abubakar Ohere, as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.
However, Ohere headed to the appellate court to seek redress, but the court further upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan as the poll winner.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Tuesday, upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected candidate in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held earlier in February.
The court dismissed the appeal filed by Ohere for lacking in merit.
On getting justice, Akpoti-Uduaghan recounted her travails and near-d3ath encounters with her political rivals.
Featuring on Channels TV, Yahaya Bello, while reacting to the court ruling, congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and everyone who participated in the democratic process.
The governor called on everyone in the state to accept the decision.
