Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji.

He is said to have been kidnapped on Saturday at the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area while going home from an event.

Also kidnapped is a popular businessman identified as Ezzybee who was on his way to watch a local football match on Sunday.

There were series of kidnappings in the state over the weekend, between Saturday and Sunday when the wife of a former chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere was also abducted.

Other victims were kidnapped at Okwelle junction in the Onuimo LGA of the state and the Ubomiri junction in Mbaitoli and Amaraku in Mbano LGA of the state.

Speaking on the situation when contacted, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Michael Abattam said that security operatives are already on a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators.

He added that one of the victims kidnapped at Ubomiri has already been rescued by the police.
